Demolition of existing staircase steps for partial renovation. Cut metal from existing stringers. Sand and/or grind down existing welds to a smooth surface.
New L brackets are screwed to, or welded onto existing stringers (fiberglass L is screwed, metal L is welded).
Start from the bottom and go up. Complete each step before proceeding to the next step.
Bottom kick plate (with tie channel) is measured, fitted, and placed.
Place the first replacement step on the L brackets, fit into the tie channel, and screw into the
L brackets using self-taping galvanized screws.
Repeat this process until the top step is in place. At that point, the last item, the top bull nose section is installed. It is attached to the landing, fitted into the tie channel, and sealed with a sealer appropriate for the type material at the landing.
Note- The color of the Replacementsteps is built into the fiberglass. Newly installed steps will not need painting for several years, thereby enabling more savings.
Old steps have been removed, leaving the existing stringers.
*Replacementseps can be cut onsite to adjust with bent or curved stringers.
Bottom kick plate
is installed.
